Tragedy: UNILORIN Ph.D Graduand Dies on Convocation Morning

A news that filtered in yesterday inside the convocation hall of the University of Ilorin that a doctorate degree graduand of the Institution, Dr. AbdulHafeez Adedimeji, died suddenly changed the convivial atmosphere to a sour one.

The Dean, Faculty of Post Graduate Studies, Prof. Badmas Olanrewaju Yusuf, broke the sad news at the UNILORIN auditorium, venue of the 32nd convocation, that the deceased died yesterday morning, ahead of his graduation.

Adedimeji, who bagged Ph.D degree in Arabic studies was among the 166 doctorate degree students the university graduated yesterday. Until his death, Adedimeji was a lecturer at the Fountain University, Osogbo, Osun State. A total of 8,038 students graduated at the convocation which started on Friday. In his address, the Vice- Chancellor of UNILORIN, Prof. AbduGaniyu Ambali, expressed delight that the first degree graduands were largely from the sciences.
