In Oxford: Neutral Pronoun “ZE” Introduced Instead of “He” or “She”

It has been reported that the OXFORD University students are being urged to use gender-neutral pronouns,

Instead of calling one another ‘he’ and ‘she’, students are being asked to use gender neutral pronouns such as ‘ze’.

The suggestion, being reported by the Sunday Times today, is apparently made in a students’ union leaflet.

Deliberately using the wrong pronoun for a transgender person is an offence under Oxford’s behaviour code, the newspaper has said.

Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, who formerly stood as a Green Party candidate for Oxford East, told the Times he welcomed the move, saying: “This issue isn’t about being PC.

“It’s about respecting people’s right to define themselves as neither male nor female.”
