Students Takes Over Ondo Governor’s Office in Protest

Following the strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, students in large numbers have converged in protest at the office of the state governor in Alagbaka Akure, the state capital.

The students have however been intermittently calmed by government officials including the Chief Press Secretary, CPS to the governor and the Chief Security Officer, CSO in the governor’s office who assured the students that the governor would speak to them. In his words, “I can

In his words, the CSO said: “I can say of a truth, he (the governor) is coming but when, I cannot tell.”

The students have threatened to force their way into the premises of the governor’s office should the governor refuse to address them.
