The chairman, Senate Committee on Tertiary Education and TETFund, Senator Binta Garba has said that the practice of schooling overseas has caused the country to lose up to $2billion annually. A cost which goes into capital flight by education.
During the inauguration of governing councils of 12 new federal universities in Abuja, yesterday, March 1, Garba described this development as ’embarrassing
Garba added that the solution to this trend is to strengthen the weak educational structure in the country.
She, however, added that it was a positive development that tertiary institutions in Nigeria were gradually scaling up to be ranked among the top 100 best universities in the world.
