The “13th annual symposium/send forth ceremony,”Muslim students under the aegis of the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA), Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo chapter, over the weekend was held at the town hall, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
The event was convened to acknowledge people, who were determined to work and sacrifice for Islam, according to the president of the association, Onitolo AbdulGaniyu.
He thanked the school management, student, Muslim academic and non academic staff as well as donors for their efforts to register the body as a recognised association in the school.
Onitolo pledged that the association would continue to add value to the lives of students spiritually, morally and all other aspects of lifeMeanwhile, the guest speaker at the event, Dr Zafaran Adeniyi, urged every Muslim to consider himself as an Islamic worker.
Discussing the topic: “Muslims youths in the face of impediment,” Adeniyi said, “Today, we Muslims have the wealth, the education, the technology, government support, science and even more, but we are not deploying them.”
Suggesting a way forward, the writer of Islamic literature series said, “What we now need is the sincerity of purpose and practical application of the ingenuity and resources we have.
“It is instructive to note however, that we also need to employ them meaningfully well, to propagate the religion of Islam.”
The event was attended by the speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, the State Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Budget and Planning, Mr Hassan Adekunle, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, Ikosi Ejirin, Oba Aderibigbe Asunmo among others.
