The Governor asserted that because education is a priority of the government, it would ensure that the schooling of its students is not adversely affected or truncated by dwindling financial resources.

He stated this on Wednesday while receiving a delegation from October 6 University, Cairo, Egypt, led by the Vice Chairman of its board of trustees, Ambassador Kheireldin Abdellatif, in his office.

“Presently, our country is experiencing economic and social challenges which have affected our fortunes as a state government. However, we are making determined efforts to improve our Internally Generated Revenue so that we can continue to address development issues such as our obligation to your institution”, the Acting governor started.

“We also know the challenge you are facing as an institution and I want to assure you that we will clear our outstanding issues in terms of finances, regarding our students”, he added.

He thanked the university management for showing understanding in respect of tuition and other fees of the 40 medical students on Kano state government scholarship, assuring that the administration would do its best to ensure that they continue to excel morally and academically.

The acting governor also directed the visiting team to dialogue with officials of the state Ministry of Health on how both parties can enter into an MOU on staff exchange and training, stressing that the state government values its strong and cordial relationship with the university.

The Vice Chairman of the board of trustees, 6 October University, Ambassador Kheireldin Abdellatif, explained that the visit is to build on the relationship between his institution and the Kano state government, whose students are currently pursuing degree programmes in medical sciences.
