Three best graduating students of the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, has been ordered to be awarded scholarship and immediate employments by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, on Saturday.
The minister gave the order to the Petroleum Training Development Fund, PTDF and establishments under his ministry at the 2016 Convocation Ceremony of the Institute held at PTI Conference Centre.
He stated that the award of the scholarships to the graduating National Diploma students is to encourage them in their academics as they further their education.
According to the minister, “I have ordered PTDF to award scholarships to the three best graduating OND graduands and I have also asked institutions under me to employ the three best HND graduands.”
Earlier in a remark, the Principal/ Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Training Institute, Prof. Sunny. E. Eyuke urged the HND graduands to continue to play active roles and be good ambassadors of the institution.
Euyke also challenged the best ND graduands to make quick plans and return for the HND programmes.
The Chairman of Council, Mr. M.D.B. Ladan appealed to the Federal Government to consider increasing budgetary allocations of the Petroleum Training Institute to enable it achieve its mandate.
The immediate employment is for the three best graduating Higher National Diploma, HND, students while the scholarship award is for the three best graduating National Diploma, ND, students.
One of those to benefit from the scholarship awards is Alordiah Ovie Andrew, who is the best graduating National Diploma Student of the institute.
On the whole, over three thousand graduands convocated at the Petroleum Training Institute
