The University of Newcastle is offering doctor scholarships for international students. These scholarships are awarded to pursue Juris Doctor program in the Faculty of Business and Law.
The Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of Newcastle is designed to equip you with knowledge, clinical experience and the qualifications for admission to legal practice in Australia.
The University of Newcastle, informally known as Newcastle University, is an Australian public university established in 1965. It has a primary campus in Callaghan, a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales.
Applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing Juris doctoral programme.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded within the Faculty of Business and Law.
Scholarship Award: Four (4) scholarships will be offered in 2017; two (2) will be available for International Students and two (2) available for Domestic students. These scholarships will provide a benefit of $2000 payable in two lump sums following the census date of each semester.

Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship students must meet the following criteria
- Have received an offer and be enrolled in the Juris Doctor program in the Faculty of Business and Law.
- Be an international or domestic student.
- Be enrolled full-time (minimum 30 units).
Nationality: International students can apply for doctoral scholarships.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: Entry to the JD/GradDipLegPrac is available to students who meet the following entry requirements:
- Applicants for the combined Juris Doctor/Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice must have successfully completed a tertiary qualification of 3-year Level 7 Bachelor Degree other than Law from a recognised institution; or
- Other tertiary qualification from a recognised institution assessed by the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor to be equivalent.
English Language Requirement: Applicants who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate that they meet the University’s English proficiency requirement.
