The intervention of security at the protest staged by the students of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has reportedly resulted into a bloody one, as the security men reportedly clashed with the students.
It will be recalled that the aggrieved students earlier staged a protest against the hike in their tuition fee, lamenting that the 100 and 200 level students were directed to pay between the range of N110,000 – N160,000.
Reports stated that some protesting students were shot by the security operatives.
A student said, ”The soldiers are still very much on campus, threatening students with guns, meanwhile, the students have refused to succumb to the fear which the soldiers are trying to create in them.
”This protest is slated to be on from Monday 14th – 17th, except the management, decide to take things seriously and positively.”
Meanwhile, the Senate at its emergency meeting suspended all the academic activities in the University and ordered all the students to vacate the campus today, Monday, 14th of Nov 2016.
